Employer Engagement Award – HE/FE Sector

Industry Partners at Salford City College Group is about ensuring long-term, strategic relationships between the College and employers based on talent development, career progression and creating high-quality, long-term opportunities for our students.

Our 10,000 students per year are the future talent for many local, regional and national organisations. By working together with employers strategically to enhance, develop and improve all aspects of our provision, we can be certain that our students are leaving the College Group prepared with the skills, knowledge and behaviours they need to thrive in the workplace.

The annual SCC Cycle (Strategic and Continuous Curriculum) is an integral and critical annual process of curriculum development, ensuring that in all considerations, the needs of our industry partners and the wider business and industry community are heard and included. Industry partners, through informal dialogue, formal Employer Curriculum Boards and by hosting our staff on industry CPD placements, inform and shape all that is outstanding about the broad range of provision we offer across the SCC Group.

SCC Group works with over 1,000 employers annually, many of whom are committed Industry Partners. The concept was developed in collaboration with industry, and Nicola Hodkinson, Owner and Director of Seddon, the national construction company founded in Salford, employing over 600 people, was instrumental in the development and implementation of this concept.

Employer engagement and our Industry Partner concept are at the heart of all that is outstanding about Salford City College Group. Our strategic, well-established, and productive relationships with employers allow opportunities to be created in abundance for students across the Group.

This recognition is incredibly important to us, reflecting the hard work of our staff, our students and our industry partners.
