Celebrating 25 years of the Lowry in Salford, the Not Too Tame theatre company put on an electrifying reimagining of Greek mythology in a show called “Gods of Salford”. Described as a heartfelt, immersive theatre experience following a group of young athletes who challenge the gods and seek to control their own lives, the show brought together lots of local talent—including many of our own Performing Arts students from Pendleton Sixth Form College.

For a quarter of a century, the Lowry Theatre and Gallery at Salford Quays has been spreading the joy of art and creativity and giving space to different views. For the local people, and all those who come from further afield to visit the theatre, the Lowry is an invaluable pillar of the community. In many ways, the centre is at the heart of the art and culture of Salford. Gods of Salford represents one of many ways that the centre is celebrating this anniversary milestone.

The show itself brings together 25 young people from around Salford to give them the unique opportunity to work alongside professional actors. Channelling Salford’s working-class spirit, Not Too Tame have created a high-energy adventure that blends mythic storytelling with the real experiences of local young people.

Pendleton’s prestigious School of Theatre nurtures and supervises some of the best acting and stage talent in the city. Opportunities like these give students the chance to build on their creative potential and get real-world experience in real stage settings.

We’re incredibly proud of the hard work of our students in securing their places on this unique and remarkable production—well done to each of you!
