Our health and social care apprenticeships will allow you to develop your skills and adapt your knowledge within the sector. Caring for the elderly or those in need of support is an amazing and rewarding career.
With life expectancy increasing, and as medical advancements improve, we need to care for more people than ever before. The career opportunities are immense, with large numbers of additional staff required in both the public and private sectors.
Around 160,000 people work in health and social care across Greater Manchester, with expected growth of 24,000 employees over the next two decades. This means that there is a significant need for new people in this sector via apprenticeships.
Health and social care is a major source of employment across a range of occupations, many of which are highly skilled. The sector is facing persistent serious skills and recruitment challenges, and in recent years the NHS has had to actively recruit internationally to meet its workforce requirements. The Department For Education recently said that ‘apprenticeships within the NHS have been a huge boost and a new government target has been issued citing that public bodies should employ, on average, at least 2.3% of their staff as a new apprentice.’
