Adult care workers are the frontline staff who work helping and supporting adults with care and/or support needs to achieve their personal goals, whilst living as independently and safely as possible, enabling them to have choice and control in their lives. Job titles may include, but are not exclusive to: Care Assistant, Care Worker, Support Worker, Personal Assistant in settings including residential, domiciliary, day services, substance misuse, learning disability services, mental health support including outreach and re-enablement.
Assessment
Mandatory Qualifications
- Level 2 Diploma in Care
- Care Certificate completion evidence
- Functional Skills Level 1 in English (unless previously achieved) and attempt level 2
- Functional Skills Level 1 in Maths (unless previously achieved) and attempt level 2
- Portfolio of Evidence
A portfolio of evidence will be developed by the apprentice with the support of the assessor. This portfolio will show the knowledge, skills and the behaviors demonstrated to be an effective competent Adult Care Worker.
End Point Assessment
Apprentices are required to undertake an end point assessment consisting of:
- A situational judgement test- 60 questions using real work scenario’s graded pass/merit/distinction
- A professional discussion – 45 minutes informed by prior learning and experience and supporting evidence submitted including statements from individuals.
Entry Requirements
- English and maths – minimum entry 3
- Apprentices must be in suitable employment, have a contract of employment and a current clear DBS.
