Social Mobility Award

Salford City College is delighted to announce that we have won the Sixth Form College Association (SFCA) Social Mobility Award, for our work in engaging students across Greater Manchester, who are at risk of becoming NEET.

Salford City College is committed to preventing young people who are currently moving through the education system from becoming NEET and ensuring that a suitable provision is available for students in order to meet their individual learning needs. Consequently, we have deployed a bespoke Widening Participation Programme which endeavours to incorporate creativity and personalised techniques to inspire and engage with hard-to-reach young people.

Our priority is to ensure that these young people feel both supported and empowered to continue their educational journey and prevent them from becoming NEET.

Independent Learning Award

We are also delighted to announce that we have been recognised for the Independent Learning Award, acknowledging our delivery of the Aspire Programme, which benefits students with a broad range of learning difficulties and complex needs.

Salford City College offers tailored pre-transition for students to excel, the programme assists students in achieving their dreams, nurturing talent in a safe, fully inclusive, and supported setting. The programme’s curriculum is specifically designed to ensure students develop skills for further study, employment and independent living. These skills are developed through a range of teaching, learning and assessment activities using our practical facilities and range of trips and visits.

These awards are incredibly important to us, reflecting the hard work of our staff and our students.
