Pendleton Sixth Form College Dance Student, Charley Stewart, has been awarded Bronze for "Learner of the Year 2020" at the BTEC Awards held last month. The BTEC Awards are a national award ceremony where nominees from across the UK are acknowledged for their outstanding contribution to their studies.
Commenting on Charley, Dance teacher Elena Yenulevich, said: “Charley is an outstanding student, she is compassionate, creative and constantly strives to better her skills. She has taken part in Season shows at the college and has always positively engaged with extra-curricular activities held at Pendleton”.
Pendleton are the host of the incredible Tap Dance Festival UK, which brings in hundreds of students from across the UK to perform, train and create in this genre. Students who take part gain valuable knowledge from the star-studded national and international faculty.   During this event Charley received a full tuition scholarship to train at Washington DC TapFest [2019] and also Chicago Tap festival [2020] in recognition of the talent, drive and determination that Charley demonstrated.
Elena added: “Charley is a leader and role model of her peer group and often stays behind after college hours or uses her free time to help her peers or to further hone her dance skills and technique. She is an absolute credit to the department and the college and all of Charley’s tutors are so proud of her achievements so far”.
