The Eccles Sixth Form College’s Men’s 2nd team travelled to Riverside college for a tough match against their football team.   Eccles recorded back to back wins with a hard fought, but well-deserved victory by 2-0 to Riverside College. The game was scrappy in the early exchanges, with Riverside having 2 good chances to take the lead, and also Eccles looked dangerous on set plays. As the game began, it started to open up with both sides missing good chances to take the lead. After an even, it looked like the first team to score would probably go on to win the game. On the 28th minute, Eccles took the lead with a looping header by Eugene from a corner. Eccles then created two more good chances to increase their lead, but as half time came they were still only one goal ahead of their opponents.   As the second half rolled around, Eccles were the more positive and dangerous team. The team used their strength, determination and constant motivation to create a bigger goal difference. It was no surprise when a second goal was added from a fast-paced cross by Jacob Wilson, with Elisha getting in front of the hosts keeper to poke home. By this stage Eccles were in full control of the game. As the game drew to a close, the Eccles boys were delighted with their victory citing it as a “sprint, not a marathon of a game”. A 2-0 victory for Eccles sees them retain their current roll of wins.
