On Thursday 8th February, Salford City College Group hosted its annual Apprenticeship Awards. The guests were greeted with a drinks reception and a musical performance from Salford City College’s own Mark Compton. The room was buzzing with anticipation of the night ahead as attendees settled in by networking with colleagues across the region. Excited guests then began to take their seat in the ceremony room as the moment they were all waiting for was about to begin.
Allan Milne, Director or Apprenticeships and Employer Engagements, opened the ceremony with a short speech in which he acknowledged the hard work and dedication of both apprentices and their employers. Allan emphasises how proud Salford City College Group is of its nominees.
Rebecca Parks, Group Principal, then took to the stage to welcome the audience and express her gratitude for all who were attending the ceremony.
The audience was then treated to a talented performance by the Pendleton Sixth Form College Contemporary Choir.
Following the wonderful showcase, Salford City College Group was lucky to invite two guest speakers to the stage. The first speaker was Melissa Caslake, Director for Children Services at Salford City Council, who shared her knowledge and experiences of being an apprentice employer. Our second guest speaker was James Wrycraft who apprenticed at Salford City Council. James gave the audience a glimpse into his role as an apprentice and shared some of his achievements with the audience.

After accepting her award, Olivia gave a speech to the audience in which she talked of her time as a trainee.
