Eccles Sixth Form Student Isabelle Shortlisted for Volunteering Award for Gymnastics Work

A dedicated Eccles Sixth Form College student is being recognised after being shortlisted for a prestigious volunteering award, celebrating the difference she is making in her local community through gymnastics.
Isabelle, a hardworking learner at Eccles Sixth Form College, has been shortlisted thanks to her outstanding commitment to supporting younger gymnasts at a Salford-based community club, where she helps children build confidence, coordination and a love of sport.
Alongside her studies, Isabelle volunteers weekly at the Manchester Academy of Gymnastics, a charity organisation based in Salford that provides accessible sporting opportunities for young people across Greater Manchester.

Recognition for Community Contribution

Isabelle’s volunteering has earned her this special shortlisting, highlighting the positive impact she has not only as a coach and helper, but also as a role model for younger athletes.
She plays a vital role in encouraging children, creating a welcoming environment and supporting gymnasts as they develop new skills in a safe and friendly setting.
Speaking about her volunteering, Isabelle explained that she wanted to give something back to the club and community that have supported her own journey.
“I’ve always loved gymnastics, but volunteering has helped me grow in confidence too,” she said. “It’s so rewarding seeing younger children enjoying themselves and achieving things they didn’t think they could.”

Balancing College Life with Making a Difference

Staff at Eccles Sixth Form College have praised Isabelle for balancing her studies with her dedication to helping others.
Her volunteering experience has also helped her develop valuable skills for the future, including communication, teamwork, leadership and resilience - qualities that employers highly value.
