On Saturday 24 November, Colleges in Manchester and Salford will be putting on open days and community events across the region. If you are in year 9, 10 or 11 and are starting to think about college and life after secondary school, then make sure you get to an open event in the area. Perhaps you're an adult thinking about your next steps or a college leaver looking for Higher Education opportunities? These events are for you too!  Or maybe you are a member of the local community looking for a free family event to keep the kids occupied this weekend! Here is what to expect: 

Eccles Sixth Form College 

 

Between 10am and 12noon this Saturday, Eccles Sixth Form College will be hosting a Winter Wonderland Family Fun Day alongside their school leaver open event.  Members of the local community are invited to the FREE event, with doors being opened to all ages. Children will have the chance to meet Santa, have their face painted, make Christmas decorations and make the most of the onsite bouncy castle.  School leavers are also invited to look around the college and its incredible facilities. If you are interested in travel and tourism, why not come and check out the new airport lounge? Or if it's animal you are interested in, come and take a look around our zoological gardens and animal centre. Sport,  business, health and social care, are just a few of the other brilliant courses available. 

Worlsey College 

Worsley College will be opening their doors to both the community and school leavers for their open event on Saturday. Members of the local community are invited to the onsite Glass House Restaurant and Aspirations Salon. Indulge in either a FREE beauty treatment or FREE morning tea and pastries. Complimentary mince pies and mulled wine with also be available on a first-come-first-served basis. 

School leavers are also invited to explore the incredible facilities used for courses including hair and beauty, hospitality and catering, animal, business and travel, public services and early years and childcare.  

Pendleton Sixth Form College 

At Pendleton, school leavers are invited to come and explore the vast range of A-level and Vocational courses on offer. Enjoy science experiments put on by staff, dance and theatre performances and a mobile fashion show put on by students. Take a trip back in time with history, explore philosophical theories with humanities and count your future career prospects with economics. 

Explore the Pendleton School of Theatre, The School of Creative Arts and Design as well as The Centre of Excellence for STEM, while you're there too! 

 

FutureSkills at MediaCityUK

School leavers, adults and college leavers are invited to explore FutureSkills at MediaCityUK and The University Centre at Salford City College. FutureSkills, located in the heart of MediaCityUK, is known for its creative media, IT, accounting and music courses amongst others. Explore the performance spaces, TV studios, radio studios, photography spaces and music rooms, as well the lecture theatres and state-of-the-art computer suites. 

The University Centre at Salford City College 

At the newly launched University Centre, college leavers and adults looking for a career change can find out more about Higher Education courses. Courses include accounting qualifications, Access to Higher Education courses, HNCs and HNDs and Foundation Degrees. 

Courses range from business to media make-up, performing arts, construction, art and design. 

 

City Skills 

At City Skills, school leavers and adults alike are invited to explore their options in construction and the built environment, painting and decorating, hair and beauty, motor vehicle studies, plumbing and much more. 

The college is known in the local area for building trade skills that train young people, apprentices and adults for an array of careers in the region. 

Explore the salons, newly launched motor vehicle workshop and multiple construction workshops and facilities.
