The Media Make Up department at the University Centre at Salford City College are currently undergoing their showcase module events and have decided to share some of the amazing work that the students have created. Pre-Covid, these were live events held all over Manchester including catwalk shows, art galleries, live models, retail outlets and interactive demos.

This year the showcase is entirely digital which has meant that students can invite anyone from all across the globe, no matter the time zone. Notably, the digital showcase currently has attendees from Los Angeles and New York City as well as industry artist Katie Moore, who works with the publications for Elle and Vogue.

The department also welcomed Katie Moore during the Work Based Placement module. Katie led a guest session for the Media Make Up students. The highlight was a competition for everyone with the winner gaining the opportunity to assist her on her next shoot post pandemic. Katie also left some feedback for the students who participated and gave special mention to Lúcia Sisse, who really stood out to Katie in the seminar.

Students were given only a very small criteria they had to meet for their submissions, otherwise they had full creative freedom to produce whatever they wanted for their showcase.

Below is a selection of final images presenting different makeup looks that have been designed and created by level 4 Media Makeup for Fashion students for their Image Creation module. Students were required to create professional images suitable for varying fashion image conventions such as catalogue, editorial, catwalk and Avant Garde.

Due to Covid restrictions, most of the students modelled their looks on themselves as well as styling the images and acting as photographer. This is a practical module that was taught entirely online this semester and we're sure you'll agree the level of technical skills that they have shown is highly impressive.

One of the Media Make Up tutors commented: “We are incredibly proud of them all for working so hard and under such pressure. They have provided a stunning set of images for their portfolios, showcasing highly technical and creative skillsets as demonstrated below.”
