Outline

The Food and Beverage Team Member apprenticeship provides learners with the skills, knowledge and behaviours required to deliver excellent customer service within the hospitality industry.

Food and Beverage Team Members work in a wide range of hospitality settings including restaurants, hotels, pubs, bars, cafés, conference venues and event spaces. They are responsible for ensuring customers receive a high-quality experience by serving food and drinks, maintaining service standards, and contributing to the smooth day-to-day operation of the business.

This apprenticeship is ideal for individuals who enjoy working with people, thrive in a fast-paced environment and want to build a career within hospitality.

Apprentices will develop the practical knowledge and workplace skills required to deliver outstanding food and beverage service within a professional hospitality environment. This includes gaining an understanding of customer service excellence, food and beverage service techniques, menu and product knowledge, and taking and processing customer orders. Apprentices will build practical skills in serving food and drinks professionally, maintaining high standards of health, safety and food hygiene, and complying with food safety legislation. They will also develop confidence in communicating effectively, working as part of a team, handling customer enquiries and complaints, and promoting products to enhance sales opportunities. Throughout the programme, apprentices will strengthen their skills in preparing and maintaining service areas, stock control and replenishment, and sustainable hospitality practices, while developing professional standards, personal presentation and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
