A variety of units are studied throughout the course. For example, you may study physiology of human body systems, scientifi c investigation, microbiological techniques, practical chemistry, organic chemistry, and medical physics, all of which have theoretical and practical aspects.

Progression

These courses will prepare students academically for their next steps into Further or Higher Education, or for a career in a science-relate subject. Many of our students go on to study a science-related discipline at university in areas such as biomedical science, microbiology, health, or study for degrees in biology, chemistry, or physics. 

Entry Requirements

Level 2 Vocational Courses: Students are required to have a minimum of four grade 3s at GCSE. Level 3 Vocational Courses: Students are required to have achieved a minimum of five grade 4s at GCSE, which must include a grade 5 in Maths. Progression from Level 2 Vocational Science will require a Merit grade profile with Level 2 passes in examined units, with a grade 4 in English and Grade 5 in Maths. Additional Information: For Level 2 Vocational Courses, we will consider 2 Vocationals, ideally one to be in a related subject. For Level 3 Vocational Courses, we will consider 1 Vocational qualification in place of a GCSE as long as a grade 4 is achieved in English.
