Uniformed Protective Services (Vocational)

Outline

You will study a wide range of topics including leadership, team development, physical preparation, exercise and fitness, outdoor adventurous activities, police powers, and employment within the public services.

At advanced level, you’ll explore more specialist units such as managing major incidents, custodial care, government policies, the legal system, and the role of communication and technology in modern public services.

Assessment

You will be assessed through a variety of methods, including:

• Written assignments

• Practical and skills-based assessments

• Presentations to staff and students

• Professional discussions with public services experts

Progression

Many of our students go into employment within the public services industry or continue with their studies at university before pursuing careers in the police, fire service or armed services.

Entry Requirements

Entry Requirements

Level 1 Vocational Courses:
Applicants should have 4 GCSEs at grades 1–9.

Level 2 Vocational Courses:
Applicants should have 4 GCSEs at grades 3–9.

Level 3 Vocational Courses:
Applicants should have 5 GCSEs at grades 4–9, including English Language or Maths.

Additional Information

We may consider one vocational qualification in place of a GCSE, provided you have achieved a grade 4 in English Language.
