Outline
The Administration Assistant apprenticeship provides learners with the skills, knowledge and confidence to support the smooth running of businesses and organisations across a wide range of sectors. Administration Assistants play a vital role in supporting teams, managing information, communicating with customers and colleagues, and ensuring day-to-day operations run efficiently. This apprenticeship is ideal for individuals starting their career in business and administration and looking to develop valuable workplace skills.
Apprentices will develop the core knowledge, skills and behaviours required to work effectively within an administrative role. This includes gaining an understanding of business administration principles, customer service and communication, and professional workplace behaviours. Apprentices will build practical skills in managing information and records, creating and formatting documents, organising and supporting meetings, and managing diaries and emails. They will also develop confidence in data entry, information handling, and using digital and office-based systems. Throughout the programme, apprentices will strengthen their teamworking, collaboration, problem-solving, decision-making, time management and organisational skills, while developing an awareness of health, safety and data protection requirements and the importance of continuous improvement in the workplace.
Apprentices will learn how to provide administrative support, handle information accurately, communicate professionally with colleagues and customers, and contribute positively to business operations.
Assessment
It typically takes 8 – 12 months to complete the apprenticeship, but this will vary depending on your experience and working pattern.
You will be allocated a Trainer Assessor who will support you throughout the apprenticeship with regular monthly sessions. This is flexible to apprentice requirements, however, contact is available and encouraged outside of this time so each apprentice receives the help they need. Trainer Assessors make good use of digital platforms to support this.
The workshops provide additional opportunities to develop professional skills, network with other apprentices and enhance workplace knowledge.
End Point Assessment
The end point assessment is synoptic, and takes place at the end of the apprentice’s learning and development. The requirement is that the end point assessment is completed within three months from the start of the end point assessment period. The end point assessment is made up of the following components:
- A practical assessment
- A professional discussion
