If you are interested in pursuing a career in the fast-paced and innovative hospitality and catering industry, we offer unique opportunities and have the facilities you’ll need to cook-up your perfect career. If you study hospitality and catering with us, you’ll be based at Worsley College, which is home to The Glass House at Worsley, a professional and specialist training restaurant, used exclusively by the department, and open to the public. The restaurant boasts outstanding equipment and kitchens. Here, students host functions, afternoon teas, and serve set menus and a la carte options. They are given the opportunity to develop and design the dishes used for The Glass House menu, allowing them to continually develop their skills, creativity and generally master the craft. Our teaching staff have a wealth of knowledge to share with students and have held prestigious roles at various 4-star Marriott Hotels and Sheraton Hotels in the UK, Berlin, Milan and Zurich. The Head of Department is also the Managing Director of his own, local catering business. Greater Manchester is renowned for its hospitality excellence and has some of the finest restaurants and public houses in the country, with new establishments opening regularly, making it the perfect place to study gastronomy. Hospitality and Catering qualifications can lead to jobs such as a chef, catering assistant and front of house hospitality roles.
