Eccles are beaten on the road

Eccles travelled to Myerscough with a much changed team. With illness and other issues to contend with it was a chance for a few second team players to step up as a reward for their performances. There wasn’t much happening in the first 15 minutes with much of the game being played in midfield. Myerscough were gifted the 1st goal when a poor kick from Dion Banton went straight to the Myerscough player who put the ball in an empty net from 35 yards. Once again the game went into a midfield battle with few chances for either side. Kwadwo Oduro had two good chances but the Myerscough keeper made two great saves. It was 1-1 in the second minute after half time when an unbelievable through ball from Rafael Ceita was collected by Kwadwo who rounded the keeper to slot in a cool finish. Eccles were playing good football out from the back but couldn’t make the possession count. It was Myerscough who took the lead again when Eccles gave the ball away cheaply and with 1 pass the striker went round Dion for a simple finish. It was a carbon copy for the 3rd Myerscough goal when again the Eccles defender gave the ball away for the same one pass to round Dion again. It was 4-1 when the ball was given away in midfield and the striker ran through to smash it into the back of the net. The goal of the game came with 5 minutes to go with Eccles throwing men forward, Myerscough won the ball and played a good 7 pass move that resulted in the striker curling it into the top corner. It was a difficult afternoon for Eccles but they should be proud as they never gave up and played some excellent football.
