Applied Science (Triple Vocational A-level)

This course is designed to combine an in-depth study of biology, chemistry and physics allowing you to develop your skills and knowledge in all three disciplines. Most importantly, students will develop their skills in order to conduct practical experiments to a professional standard. This will prepare them perfectly for further study or employment within the industry. Units of study have been carefully chosen to combine biology, chemistry, physics, and maths.

A variety of units are studied throughout the course. For example, you may
study physiology of human body systems, scientifi c investigation,
microbiological techniques, practical chemistry, organic chemistry, and medical
physics, all of which have theoretical and practical aspects.

  • Written assignments

  • Practical assessments in the form of lab practicals and primary

  • Presentations

  • Examinations

What enrichment will there be?

  • Science Society. These events focusing on careers in science
  • Trips to large science companies to experience the industry in action
  • Opportunities to join the STEM Academy
  • Research placements at large organisatons, such as, Nuffi eld Research Placement
