Journalism (Vocational)
Study journalism at FutureSkills at MediaCityUK and benefit from our professional standard facilities based in the heart of MediaCityUK. This qualification in journalism is the first step to a rewarding career in this industry. Get prepared for work in the ever-changing digital age as we develop your multi-media journalism skills, enabling you to pursue a successful career. Whilst studying you will work within a variety of areas such as script-writing, video and radio broadcasting, documentary-making, news production, magazine layout and design, photo-journalism and writing for news. During the course, you will work on a range of projects in different formats, to showcase your research, interview and production skills. At FutureSkills, we have a variety of industry standard software to help you create your work. Our Mac suites include Adobe Professional Suite and as part of your studies you will produce work on software such as Myriad, Adobe Premiere, Audition and Dreamweaver. We work with a variety of media organisations including BBC North, The Sun, The News Academy and KEY103, to provide extensive opportunities for our students, from producing live briefs to pitching ideas to professionals within the industry. Previous students have progressed onto courses including multi-media journalism, sports journalism and digital media at a variety of prestigious institutions. Students have also moved into media based apprenticeships following the course.

Entry Requirements
5 Grade 4s/Cs at GCSE and grade 4 and
above in English or maths
Progression
Students can progress with us to study a HNC Creative Media Production (Journalism Pathway) at our University Centre or an apprenticeship with Apprenticeships at Salford City College. Alternatively, students can progress to study an undergraduate course at a university of their choice or progress to employment.
