You’ll be taking part in lots of hands-on, practical sessions, including how to erect and dismantle the appropriate access equipment and working platforms, how to prepare surfaces for decoration and how to apply paint systems by brush and roller. You’ll also look at the application of foundation and plain papers, the production of specialist decorative finishes and how to effectively apply and create colour.

This qualification is widely recognised in the construction industry and will set you on the path to a rewarding career as a painter or decorator.

WHAT WILL I STUDY?

Level 1: Applying paint systems by brush and roller, preparation of surfaces, production of specialist decorative finishes and health and safety.

Level 2: Applying paint systems to ceilings and walls, further preparation of different surfaces, producing specialist decorative finishes and erecting and dismantling working platforms.

progression from Level 1

Progression

On completion of your level 2 qualifi cation, pathways will include a route into a professional construction course or an apprenticeship. Painting and decorating is the perfect foundation to an apprenticeship.
