The Pendleton School of Theatre, a Beacon award-winning department, which is nationally acclaimed for producing some of the finest performers, directors, and production staff in the business. They are known for their spectacular Season of Shows and their high calibre of student talent.

Their reputation for teaching and learning is undisputed thanks to the experienced and dynamic teachers, who have over 70 years’ combined experience as examiners and moderators for leading exam boards, and with The British Academy of Dramatic Combat. Five have Masters Degrees in Performing Arts Practice, from the likes of RADA, LIPA and the University of Sheffield, and their links provide unique opportunities for their students.

This dynamic one-year course has been designed to provide a professionally focused, industry-based training and preparation for drama school, university or employment as a performer within the theatre, TV and film industries. The course has strong partnerships with local theatres, acting agents, creative organisations and employers in Salford and Greater Manchester such as BBC and ITV, The Lowry, Contact Theatre, The Kings Arms Theatre, Greater Manchester Police, Red Door Management and Lime Productions. Through these partnerships, the teaching team are able to offer highly relevant, realistic and industry-standard training.

What Will I study

You will study core units of creative arts professional practice and creative arts research skills as well as optional units. These are:

Acting Technique, Acting for the Camera, Singing Techniques, Vocal Repertoire, Ensemble Singing, Jazz Dance, Ballet Dance, Devising, Performing Arts Industry and Professional Development.

How is it delivered and Assessed

The course is intensive and you will be expected to engage in informed debates about current issues in the performing arts and consider the contexts through which your own art form has evolved. Assessment will be through a range of performance opportunities alongside research projects, online portfolios and presentations.
