Hairdressing (Level 1)

This 32 week City and Guilds course is a fantastic start to a new career in hairdressing services. If you are new to the industry or looking for a career in hairdressing, or even looking to develop a range of new skills, this is just for you. This qualification allows candidates to learn, develop and practice the skills required to assist with services such as relaxing, colouring and lightening, perming, shaving, plaiting, twisting, shampooing, conditioning and blow drying hair, to develop effective working relationships and to assist with reception duties and the maintenance of work areas.

Progression

Level 2 Hairdressing or gain employment as a Salon Assistant or related work in a salon.

Assessment

The course is predominantly practical but will contain some theory sessions, short exams and assignments to support the knowledge required. Teachers will use observation of practical tasks and you will also assemble a portfolio of evidence along your journey.

Entry Requirements

3 GCSEs at grade 2-3 or a functional skills level 1 in English. It would also be advantageous to have a keen interest in hair and beauty or have had previous salon experience.
