You will study modules in three disciplines; Criminology, Law and Psychology. 


Criminology units: 

  • Criminal Justice and Social Policy 

  • Theories of Crime Causation 

  • Criminological Practice 

  • Offender Profiling 

  • Forensic Evidence  

  • Terrorism, The State and Civil Liberty  


Law units: 

  • Non-fatal Offences against the Person 

  • Homicide 

  • Police Powers in England and Wales 

  • The Jury System  

  • Negligence 

Psychology units: 

  • Aggression 

  • The Nature Nurture Debate 

  • Social Perspectives in Mental Health 

  • Early Social Development  


In addition to the above units, you will study a number of core skills units which will enable you to develop the academic skills necessary for studying on the Access to HE course and beyond.? 


Successful completion of the course will enable progression onto various degree courses. This pathway is designed for progression onto programmes with a focus on criminology and/ or criminal law. However, students have also progressed onto courses such as Counselling and Psychotherapy, Law, Forensic Psychology and Criminal Investigation. This course provides an excellent academic foundation. A number of students go on to study at Russell Group universities. 


In order to achieve this qualification, you must achieve 60 Level 3 credits in a number of modules. You will be continuously assessed via a range of methods which include producing essays, reports, presentations and timed assessments. There are no external examinations. 

Entry Requirements

Applicants will be expected to have GCSEs in maths and English (or L2 equivalents). Evidence of these must be produced prior to starting the course.
