About the role

We have an exciting opportunity for a maternity cover position as Head of Professional and Higher Skills (Head of Department) based at our Centre of Excellence for Adult Learning; FutureSkills3. The Head of Professional and Higher Skills (Head of Department) will be responsible for the day-to-day management of diverse curriculum including; a Professional Strand and a Creative Strand.
The Professional Strand includes; Education Suite consisting of Level Award in Education and Training, Teaching Assistant (STL) and Assessing Vocational Achievement (CAVA), PGCE and Cert Ed. Additionally, Access to HE programmes in Psychology and Mental Health, Law and Criminology, Business Admin; BSc Psychology Degree (1+2 model), AAT Book Keeping, Vocational Business Admin and Professional Construction.
The Creative strand includes: Adult study programmes in Make-up and Fashion and Textiles. In addition to Foundation Degrees/BA Hons in Media-Make up. Also, Community Interpreting and British Sign Language.
The Head of Professional and Higher Skills (Head of Department) will drive forward the department, create an outstanding learning environment and deliver excellent outcomes for students. As a department we host a series of impressive events from stakeholder engagement conferences to themed events showcasing student work and achievements, HE Graduation and a glitzy Adult Awards Event, of which you will champion and lead on showcasing excellence.
The successful candidate will be forward-thinking, creative and driven to provide the very best learning experiences for our students. They will ideally have a proven track record of outstanding teaching and learning within the FE sector. They will have experience of managing a diverse team to deliver successful outcomes and have sound knowledge of working successfully within a robust quality assurance framework.
The candidate should have experience or knowledge of working with validating universities and awarding bodies and have a clear understanding of role played by the Office for Students in regulating Higher Education. In addition to remaining abreast of the latest developments such as the introduction of B3 performance indicators, Access and Participation and Attainment focuses.
