Targeted Traineeships

COMMENCING 1 AUGUST 2020: For the first time, employers who offer Traineeship placements will receive a government grant of £1,000.

In response to Covid-19, we have developed a new programme to help both employers and our apprentice candidates transition from their current situation into an apprenticeship, through a targeted traineeship process, prior to the apprenticeship starting.

The principal aim is to offer employers and recruited apprentices a middle ground, where employers who want to recruit in August – October but are not in a position to ‘just yet’, have an alternative.

Employers will commit to undertaking the apprenticeship recruitment process, identifying the candidate they want to employ, and will commit to employing them no later than January 2021.

These individuals will become our targeted trainees.Traineeships are designed to help individuals enter into apprenticeships. Where an individual has been out of education or work for significant periods recently due to Covid, we believe these programmes will provide great support in entering into an apprenticeship.

We are offering this traineeship in three different sector groups:

  • Construction
  • Childcare
  • Professional Services
