Bus, Meals & Bursary Applications 2017-18

Bursary

Students joining college this academic year may be entitled to a Bursary of £10 per week. The payment is dependent on 100% attendance, good behaviour and work submission by the student. Failure to meet these requirements will result in a loss of payment. Normally, the payment is paid directly into your bank account each week. To see if you are eligible you will need to apply online, upload the required evidence of the household income. Eligibility is based on need and vulnerability.

Any student who is 16, 17 or 18 and on a full-time course whilst living in a household with an overall income of less than £20,000 per year, or is in receipt of benefits, is welcome to apply. If you need advice or help in applying online contact the Student Services Team at your centre. If you are a student in care or have recently left care, then you may be entitled to £35 per week.

Please note: 30 October (midnight) is the deadline for submitting Bursary applicationsApplications received after this date will only be considered if funding is available.

Free College Meals

If you are aged 16-18, on a full time course and your household income is below £16,190 per year (including benefits, pensions, salary and child tax credits) then you are eligible to apply for free college meals. You will not be eligible for free college meals if your household is in receipt of Working Tax Credits. You can apply online via the student intranet, by visiting a member of the Student Service Team at your centre or you can apply online here.  For those who receive Bursary payments you will get a free daily breakfast.

Free College Bus Service

Please note you will need to book your place online before making a payment.

We have provided college transport for a number of years. The bus drops you off outside or very near the centre that you are studying at and will collect you at the same point each day. Using the College Bus Service provides you with a safe and direct journey to College with your friends. All of the services are on modern and comfortable coaches and will run every day during term time.

If there are ever any buses cancelled due to bad weather you will find out quickly by searching/following the college on social media. Please Note: Students should ensure that they carry additional money to get public transport should there be any reason why the college bus service cannot be used, this may be due to delays because of roadworks or the service not running due to adverse weather conditions. All students will be required to purchase an annual college bus permit at the cost of £20.

You must have your student card with you at all times when using the college bus service and in college. If you do not have your ID card you will be required to purchase a new card from reception and new students will receive a student card with your bus permit at enrolment.

You can find information and plan your journey using the bus timetable, available in the downloads section.

Please note that there are no refunds after the bus permit has been purchased. Your bus permit can be withdrawn at any time should you fail to adhere to the bus code of conduct noted in the bus brochure.
