Community Blooms For European Integration Fund Project
13 June 2012
Students have been busy planting as part of a community activity for our joint “European Integration Fund” project with Salford City Council.
There are 3 groups of learners (3rd country nationals), 2 based in Eccles and a third in the central Salford area; language work is combined with a range of locally-based activities, talks and visits, aimed at improving the learners’ integration into their local communities.
Woodwork students at City Campus made and stained a number of planters, Buile Hill Park Garden Centre provided plants and compost, and our Yemeni and Asian adult learners filled the planters with compost and plants in red white and blue in situ before handing them over to the Salford Link Project and the Yemeni Community Association / Eccles Youth Centre.
The activity took place on May 15th, so that the flowers would be in bloom for the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations.
