Walkden Sixth Form Centre Students Fundraise For St Anne’s Hospice
13 June 2012
Students from Salford City College’s Walkden Sixth Form Centre have fundraised an impressive £250.00 for St Anne’s Hospice.
The Level 2 Sports Group were tasked, as part of their Planning a Sport Event unit, and decided it was a prime opportunity to raise money for charity also.
The students organised a 5-aside football competition at Trafford Park’s Soccerdome for over 40 entrants and also volunteered to have their legs waxed, with the help of the Hair & Beauty students at Walkden Sixth Form Centre.
Mike Bruns, Sports Tutor at Salford City College, said; “Congratulations to the students for raising such an amazing amount of money for charity, and for those who donated so generously. The students did a terrific job of organising their 5-aside football event, and were extremely good sports when having their legs waxed also. Many thanks to the Hair & Beauty students and tutors for helping us with that element of the fundraising. All of the football tournament participants were a credit to the college, showing exceptional behaviour and sportsmanship, we are extremely proud of all involved.”
