Student Awards Celebration With Salford City Reds’ John Wilkinson

The Salford City Reds Chairman joins students for a celebration of hard work, determination and success.

Students from Salford City College, Pendleton Sixth Form Centre gathered together recently to celebrate another year of success and great achievements at the annual awards ceremony, held at the centre on Dronfield Road.

Special guest speaker at the awards ceremony was Salford City Reds Chairman, John Wilkinson. John attended the ceremony to offer words of encouragement and inspiration to the students, as well as to congratulate them in their efforts.

Awards were given out for progression and effort as well as special awards for contribution to the college and the community, amongst many others.

The evening was an opportunity not only to praise those students who have excelled at college but also to recognise the journeys students have had to make in their lives to get where they are and also to acknowledge the fantastic work which students are involved in, in their spare time.

Examples of the excellent efforts of the students were highlighted at the awards ceremony, including Level 2 student Jack Hindley, whose exemplary attitude on his work experience placement at Harvey Nichols influenced the store to invite even more of the students in for placements. Helen Walton, a Catering student at the De La Salle centre, also gained special mention after her successful placement at Claridges Hotel in London has gained her a full time job at the hotel, which is now in the top ten world listings of hotels.

John Wilkinson, who also presented the awards to the students, commented: “It was an honour to be asked to participate in the presentation night at Salford City College and a delight to see the successes achieved by so many of the students. Congratulations to all the students involved on the night and I wish them all the very best for the future and their chosen careers.”
