FutureSkills @MediaCityUK is a Centre of Excellence for Media, Journalism, Media Make-up, IT, Coding and Games Design, Music Technology and Performance and Accountancy and Professional Studies.
What makes FutureSkills @MediaCityUK unique is the Academy offer – as part of an Academy you will get the opportunity to work with employers, and even have a 6-week paid internship depending on the course, plus a wealth of additional training opportunities. The centre is host to dozens of guest speakers who are keen to come and work with our students and share their industry knowledge. Our Academies are designed to give the hands-on training with professional standard equipment in order to give you the best possible preparation for the world of employment.
Creative Music & Media Academy
Working in partnership with Roland, one of the world’s largest musical instrument manufacturers, we will provide students with a range of opportunities associated with a world-leading organisation. Specialist training programmes, practice with the latest technology, and masterclasses delivered by product specialists will be available to all students.
Young Professionals Academy
This Academy is for students who have the potential to excel in the areas of business management, accounting and financial services. The opportunity to complete internships in prestigious local businesses is a key element to this Academy. Students on the course study AAT Level 2 Certificate in Accounting in the first year, Level 3 Diploma in Accounting in the second year and. Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma in Business. Supportive employers include Lloyds Banking Group, ITV, RBS, Peel Media and accounting companies BDO, Baker Tilly and Grant Thornton.
Career Academy in Professional Media
The brand new Career Academy in Professional Media will provide students with unique opportunities to work with companies from the media sector. The Academy took on its first students in September 2015, and has been set up in conjunction with Career Ready- a national programme that links students to the world of work.
