Technical Theatre (Vocational)
Introduction

This course is ideally suited to students who wish to pursue a career in the Performing Arts industry as a technician; and is an excellent introduction to basic stagecraft, theatre lighting and sound. The course has had tremendous success with progression onto top Higher Education institutions due to its practical nature.

What will I study?

Units studied will include:

• The performing arts business
• Stage management
• Lighting design and operation
• Sound design and operation
• Scenic construction
• Deputy stage management

You will also learn employability skills.

What enrichment will there be?

You will be able to take part in many enrichment activities to develop your interest and training further. You will assist in the production of all of our performing arts shows, enabling you to gain hands-on experience in many aspects of technical theatre.

What could I do next?

You will have the opportunity to apply for university or drama school or go directly into employment.

How is the course assessed

You will study eighteen units over two years that are
continually assessed and moderated. The course is mainly
practical but you will also undertake academic units and
may support your practical studies with logs, essays and
research projects.
