Graphic Design - Foundation Degree
This FdA course provides an opportunity to develop the technical, professional and creative skills required to be a successful practitioner in the graphic design industry. We are looking for creative and motivated applicants driven to pursue careers in graphic design and visual communication. You should have a good understanding of visual communication, be open minded and willing to tackle design challenges. You will be provided with training in the essential skills of visual communication and will have the opportunity to explore a range of forms of visual communication. You will develop skills in illustration, print, typography, web design and computer aided graphic design required for a range of careers in graphic design and related fields. The course is assessed largely through practical work produced in response to time specific and industry-related briefs. Employer and client engagement is a key feature of the course. You will develop portfolios in response to client and agency briefs. At the end of the course you will set up your own professional exhibition. Practical work is supported with study of art and design history and contemporary professional practice.

There will be a focus on portfolio development and live project briefs, that mirror industry based scenarios and group work. 62% of the course is assessed through the submission of coursework. The reminder is a combination of practical, presentations and essays.
