Construction Studies

Construction Studies HNC/NC

The Higher National Certificate (HNC) and National Certificate (NC) are recognised qualifications in the construction industry. The HNC will allow progression on to higher education or into employment. They are both two year courses and entail internal and external adjudication over coursework produced over the two years.

This course is based at City Campus.

Contents
There are a range of modular units which include:
Health, safety and welfare.
Science and materials.
Analytic methods.
Design principles and application.
Building technology.
Construction economics.
Site surveying procedures.

Entry Requirements
The NC is open to anyone over 16 years with four GCSE grades A to C (or equivalent) including maths and English.

The HNC is open to anyone over 18 years. Entry requirements are two A-Levels or a National Certificate/Diploma in Construction. Maths and English at GCSE grades A to C (or equivalent) are recommended. Several years continuous employment in a construction-related industry can also provide sufficient entry requirements.

Enrolment Method
This is a part-time course running on Thursdays from 9am to 5pm for 70 weeks, starting on the 16th September 2010 at the City Campus Skill Centre. The course fees are £1,810. Please telephone Admissions on 0161 631 5002 for further information.
