Access to Professions in Childhood studies including social work
Access courses are equivalent to three A-Levels. The course lasts for one year and on completion students typically go directly to a HE course.
This course is designed for adult students passionate about working with children and babies. Patience, determination and organisation are essential skills for successfully supporting young service users.
The modules include 45 credits graded and 15 credits ungraded modules:
• Social Work
Units you may study include:
• Awareness of Children’s Special Needs
• Child Language Acquisition
• Safeguarding Children and Social Work
• Statutory Procedures for Children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities
In addition to the above units, you will also study a number of core skills units which will enable you to develop the academic skills necessary for studying on the Access to HE course and beyond.
The course is designed for students wishing to progress onto a range of courses; BA (Hons) Childhood Studies with Early Years Teacher Status (0-5); BEd (Hons) Bachelor of Education Honours Degree Primary with QTS; BA (Hons) Social Work.
The course contains a range of different assessment methods from the theoretical knowledge base; from examinations to practical assessment.
