Access to Professions in Media Make-up and Special Effects
Access courses are equivalent to three A-Levels. The course last for one year and on completion students typically go directly on to a HE course.
This is a Level 3 course in Media Make-Up & Special Effects where you will be building on your existing skills and knowledge to study media make-up at an advanced level. You will study the theoretical aspects of media make-up and planning from different online and printed sources in addition to make-up/hair total look application in practical context. You may require a kit to complete the course and are expected to wear smart black clothing with flat black shoes as part of the uniform policy.
In addition to the above, you will also study a number of core skills units which will enable you to develop the academic skills necessary for studying on the Access to HE course and beyond.
Upon successful completion of this course, you may progress to Higher Education study in areas such as media make-up for fashion, editorial, film, TV, theatrical related courses and a range of academic courses.
You will be assessed through a variety of methods. These will include written assignments, tests, planning, practical work and presentations. The assessments take place throughout the course.
To achieve this qualification you will need to gain 60 credits in total, a minimum of 45 credits at Level 3 which will be graded and 15 credits which
will be ungraded.
