Access to Professions in Art
If you really want to follow a career within the industry, then the Access to HE qualification will prepare you for progression to university by offering you the opportunity to achieve a nationally recognised qualification.
This full-time course is designed to cater for students who have maturity and life experience beyond formal education. It is the equivalent of two to three A-Levels (Level 3), the normal minimum requirement for entry on to a degree course.
This one year intensive course will give you the knowledge and skills across a wide range of disciplines within art and design.
Units on this pathway include:
• Visual Communication and Life Drawing
• Fine Art
• Textiles and Fashion
• Graphic Design
This will allow you to gain new skills and also focus on specialisms related to your career goal. Study skills will also be developed to help with organisation of time, research, essay writing, presentations and applying for higher education.
In addition to the above units, you will also study a number of core skills units which will enable you to develop the academic skills necessary for studying on the Access to HE course and beyond.
Upon successful completion of this course you may progress onto a range of undergraduate creative degree courses at university. The College also offers a range of related foundation degree programmes in partnership with the University of Salford.
Subjects chosen by recent leavers include Fine Art, Photography, 3D Design, Textiles and Fashion and Graphic Design.
In order to achieve this qualification you will be supported to achieve 60 Level 3 credits in a number of modules. You will be continuously assessed via a range of methods which include practical skills assessment and project work, essays and presentations.
