Don’t take the spark out of your career! Get ready for the 18th Edition Wiring Regulations with Apprenticeships at Salford City College

4 July 2018

Apprenticeships at Salford City College are now offering courses on the 18th Edition Wiring Regulations, to keep electricians fully qualified and new installations compliant.

Electricians take note! The official wiring regulations for the industry have been updated with all electrical installations made after the 31 December, expected to be fully compliant.

The 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS 7671:2018) have now been published, replacing the current regulations, the 17th Edition. So if you are working within the industry, as an electrician, you’ll need to get up to speed pretty quick.

The 18th Edition Wiring Regulations is the British Standard Kitemark to which all domestic, commercial and industrial electrical installations must comply.

City & Guilds (2382-18) 18th Edition courses with Apprenticeships at Salford City College

The qualification by City and Guilds ensures that you are up-to-date with the latest industry regulation on wiring and the safe use and operation of electrical equipment and systems.*

As a practicing electrician, you are required to comply with regulations set out by government agencies. This qualification is designed to provide those seeking progression in their career with the opportunity to develop the skills necessary to carry out job roles and responsibilities associated with the electrotechnical industry.*

Apprenticeships at Salford City College will be offering two courses that will make it easy for any professional to make the ‘switch’ from the 17th Edition Regulations to the newly published regulations.

The update course will be a one-day course including teaching and the 2382-18 exam. This is for those who have already completed the 17th Edition Amendment 3.

For those who haven’t, there will be a full-course. This is a three-day course and is entirely classroom based. It introduces wiring regulations and covers their application through explanation and worked examples. All candidates will cover all required theory and undertake exam preparation.

Both courses are assessed as a two-hour long multiple choice, City and Guilds, online examination. It is an ‘open book’ exam and all participants will be loaned a copy of the wiring regulations.
