COURSES WE OFFER

Access to Higher Education Courses
University Centre at Salford City College

Access to University courses are Level 3 programmes of study and are designed to prepare adult students for study at university. They are aimed at people who would like to study at degree-level but who left school without the usual qualifications, such as A-levels.

If you are aged 19 – 23 years old and this is your first Level 3 qualification, you may be eligible to study for FREE. For adults aged 19+ you can apply for an Advanced Learner Loan and when you progress from your access course to a university course, your loan will be written off.


Community Courses

We offer a wide range of free community courses for Salford residents aged 19 or over, held in a variety of venues throughout the city and allowing you to learn new skills in a venue close to home. Some courses are designed to help you develop key skills in areas such as I.T, maths and English; others provide a great introduction to possible future employment, training or volunteering opportunities, without the pressure of exams or tests.

English for Speakers for Other Languages

If English is not your first language, we offer ESOL courses at a range of levels for all students with different levels of English at City Skills and FutureSkills at MediaCityUK.

Functional Skills English, ICT and Maths

Functional Skills qualifications give students valuable and transferable skills in English, Maths and ICT. We offer different levels to suit everyone’s needs, in order to do this, we need to do an initial assessment before enrolment.

Gas

Venue: City Skills part of Salford City College, Frederick Road, Salford, M6 6QH.

We offer a wide range of gas training and assessments including Gas Foundation and ACS packages covering domestic and commercial for both Natural Gas and LPG. Our new purpose-built training and assessment centre offers modern, fully equipped facilities run by highly qualified, experienced and inspiring staff.

18th Edition

Venue: City Skills part of Salford City College, Frederick Road, Salford, M6 6QH.

We will be offering two courses:

Requirements for Electrical Installations – City & Guilds (2382-18) 18th Edition
UPDATE COURSE

This will be a one day course including teaching and the 2382-18 exam and is only suitable for people who have completed the 17th Edition Amendment 3; 2382 – 15. (Proof of 17.3 completion required).

Requirements for Electrical Installations – City & Guilds (2382-18) 18th Edition
FULL COURSE

This is a 3-day course which is suitable for everyone. This course is entirely classroom-based, it introduces wiring regulations and covers their application through explanation and worked examples. All candidates will cover all required theory and undertake exam preparation. All courses conclude with the online exam detailed below.

Cost: £370 per person

University Centre at Salford City College 

Our University Centre is dedicated to furthering the skills of individuals hoping to progress academically or professionally.

Starting from January 2019, we are offering HNC courses in a variety of subjects plus AAT accredited qualifications. Dependant on which course you choose to study, you may eligible for an Advanced Learner Loan or to pay in instalments over the academic year.

SUPPORT FOR ADULT STUDENTS

Help with Childcare Costs

Our childcare fund helps students aged 20-years or above by contributing towards the cost of their childcare. To be eligible for the scheme, your childcare must be provided by an OFSTED registered provider and payments are made directly to them. You could receive up to £40 per day and the college might even pay up to £10 per day for before and after school club.*

Help with Living Costs

Our Adult Support Fund is available for anyone who is 19+ and the bursary is to cover costs for accommodation, travel, course materials, equipment and childcare. To be eligible for the bursary you must prove you are from a low-income family and in receipt of certain benefits*. If you are studying a Level 3 course or above which is funded through a loan, you may be eligible for receive up to £50 per week dependant on attendance.

Help with Tuition Fees

Adult students may be eligible for help with tuition fees through Advanced Learner Loans or Government funding. You may be able to study for free* if you meet the eligibility criteria or you can pay in instalments depending on which course you decide to study.
