Principal’s Welcome

John SpindlerSalford City College is the top Further Education College in Greater Manchester. We have five amazing centres, which between them offer a broad range of courses at all levels. Salford City College has a great history of success and our commitment to providing young people with the very best opportunities has provided our students with some of the best results in the country. In 2016 our students yet again achieved a 99% A-Level pass rate. These results, and our recent Ofsted grading of ‘good’, mean you can be assured that by coming to Salford City College you will receive high quality teaching and learning and be placed in the very best position to achieve your future aspirations.

We are dedicated to ensuring that students are successful and enjoy their time with us, and that they are able to progress onto their chosen university, employment or training. Each year we see hundreds of students progress to top universities such as the University of Oxford, University of Cambridge, University of Salford, University of Manchester, University of Bolton and the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan).

Salford City College has opened a number of new facilities for September 2016 including state of the art Digital Learning Zones, improved student social areas, an animal management centre and new gyms and cafés. More new amazing facilities will be ready for 2017 including hair and beauty salons, training kitchens and brand new classrooms.

We strive to offer students plenty of opportunities outside the classroom such as trips, visits and sporting activities, in order to explore new skills and experiences, make new friends, build confidence and develop work-related skills. A number of overseas visits take place and students get the opportunity to complete work placements. Our Gifted and Talented Programme means our very top performing students can gain access to their own programme of specialist events. Students have each Wednesday afternoon free of lessons, meaning that all students can take part in the fantastic range of activities on offer.

We believe that parents, carers and guardians play a vital role in helping you achieve your potential. That is why we keep them actively involved at every stage of your progress.

If you have any questions for me, please email principalship@salfordcc.ac.uk. I look forward to seeing many of you at our open events each term.

DEPUTY PRINCIPAL’S WELCOME

Michael J WalshChoosing which college to progress onto when leaving school is a difficult and important decision. Each of our centres offer something different. They are all unique in their facilities, environment and courses. However they all offer the same high quality teaching and learning which enables students to succeed.

.

Our college centres include:

City Skills Centre
Eccles Centre
FutureSkills @MediaCityUK
Pendleton Sixth Form Centre
Walkden Centre

All of our teachers are passionate about the courses that they teach. We work very closely with students to ensure that they stay on track and have the best opportunity to progress onto the university or area of employment of their choice.

We also strive to offer students plenty of opportunities outside the classroom such as trips, visits, and sporting activities, in order to explore new skills and experiences, make new friends, build confidence and develop themselves personally. Our recent Beacon Award success for Sport into the Curriculum is testament to this success.

We understand that each students’ needs and ambitions are different and that is why we tailor our support services to meet individual needs.

As a parent/carer/guardian, we believe that your role is vital in helping our students’ achieve and this is why we keep you involved at every stage of your son/daughter’s progress.

By visiting our centres we hope that you will be able to choose the one that is right for you and I look forward to meeting you at our forthcoming open events.
